Summary

Our heroes are back… kind of。 From the bestselling co-authors of the Illuminae Files comes the second book in the epic series about a squad of misfits, losers, and discipline cases who just might be the galaxy’s best hope for survival。

First, the bad news: an ancient evil—you know, your standard consume-all-life-in-the-galaxy deal—is about to be unleashed。 The good news? Squad 312 is standing by to save the day。 They’ve just got to take care of a few small distractions first。

Like the clan of gremps who’d like to rearrange their favorite faces。

And the cadre of illegit GIA agents with creepy flowers where their eyes used to be, who’ll stop at nothing to get their hands on Auri。

Then there’s Kal’s long-lost sister, who’s not exactly happy to see her baby brother, and has a Syldrathi army at her back。 With half the known galaxy on their tails, Squad 312 has never felt so wanted。

When they learn the Hadfield has been found, it’s time to come out of hiding。 Two centuries ago, the colony ship vanished, leaving Auri as its sole survivor。 Now, its black box might be what saves them。 But time is short, and if Auri can’t learn to master her powers as a Trigger, the squad and all their admirers are going to be deader than the Great Ultrasaur of Abraaxis IV。

Shocking revelations, bank heists, mysterious gifts, inappropriately tight bodysuits, and an epic firefight will determine the fate of the Aurora Legion’s most unforgettable heroes—and maybe the rest of the galaxy as well。

This cliffhanger is illegal :(

I would not have read this book if I knew the third one was not out yet。 Also, they are so close to resolving the story, I don’t know how they’re going to write another entire book about it。

3。5I enjoyed this but had a few issues, this book was super predictable, secondly, I thought some of the characters behaved and acted so stupidly。other than that its still a fun book

I just love these characters so much, I can’t pick a favorite。 I love the relationship between Auri and Kal。 I will say this, I was not pleased with everyone for what they did to a teammate when they learned who that teammate’s parent was。 Not pleased at all。 We are not to blame for our parents。 Just saying。 Zila’s childhood, OMG I just wanted to dive into the book and hug her。 One character reminds me of a cult leader。Overall Aurora Burning was amazing。 This book is better than the first and I love it。 Everything about this book is great, the writing, the characters, the setting and the plot。 I was at the edge of my seat for the whole thing。 The ending had me dropping to my ending screaming, WHY。 Of all the cliffhangers I’ve read, this one makes it to among the top。 I must have the next book。 。。。more

Holy hell this book!! Oh that ending, what?! I can't wait for the next one。As a disabled person, reading Fin's story really gets to me。 Representation in literature matters so much。 I can't even put into words how much his interactions with Scarlet and Kal (about his disability) mean to me。 Thank you so much for gifting us this beautiful story。 Holy hell this book!! DNF 41%I got bored with this one。 I liked the first book and I've always liked books about space travel but this one just didn't do it for me。 I've been trying to get through it for about a week now and every time I started i found myself skipping parts and then picking up a different book。Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future but as of right now I'm gonna have to pass。 DNF 41%I got bored with this one。 I liked the first book and I've always liked books about space travel but this one just didn't do it for me。 I've been trying to get through it for about a week now and every time I started i found myself skipping parts and then picking up a different book。Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future but as of right now I'm gonna have to pass。 。。。more

3。5/5 starsWe have failed, but I hope they will see how hard we tried。Everyone's right: There is something weird going on with the pacing here。 I read the first half of this book in a single day, but it took about a week to finish the rest。 What I loved about Aurora Rising was utterly lost in Book 2。 The ragtag-team, fast-paced heist story that we know and love is gone。 Not only are the characters isolated from each other for the second half of the book (which means no witty banter, boo), but ev 3。5/5 starsWe have failed, but I hope they will see how hard we tried。Everyone's right: There is something weird going on with the pacing here。 I read the first half of this book in a single day, but it took about a week to finish the rest。 What I loved about Aurora Rising was utterly lost in Book 2。 The ragtag-team, fast-paced heist story that we know and love is gone。 Not only are the characters isolated from each other for the second half of the book (which means no witty banter, boo), but everything just got so。。。 sad。 And sad is boring。 I miss the constantly failing plans coming up out of nowhere—instead, their problems are now too big to fight against。 They were rudderless and their lack of active choice made the story fall flat。Let's face it: The Aurora Cycle is a space opera。 The pure, melodramatic fun is what I loved so dearly about the first book。 Unfortunately, book 2 rolls around and the melodrama just felt。。。 whiney。SORRY but this was a big disappointment。 。。。more

1。5。 ugh。 i'm disappointed。 this got bad, and that is not an experience i've had with these authors before so tHAT SUCKS。 how in the fuck does the revelation of kal's father change a single solitary bit of his actions。 as soon as you know who his dad is, there's no question of why he didn't tell anyone and why you wouldn't want to own that so。。。。 even if he did lie, like。。。。。。。 what in the fuck does it actually effect? a whole lot of nothing, is that the answer? it's just creating baseless drama 1。5。 ugh。 i'm disappointed。 this got bad, and that is not an experience i've had with these authors before so tHAT SUCKS。 how in the fuck does the revelation of kal's father change a single solitary bit of his actions。 as soon as you know who his dad is, there's no question of why he didn't tell anyone and why you wouldn't want to own that so。。。。 even if he did lie, like。。。。。。。 what in the fuck does it actually effect? a whole lot of nothing, is that the answer? it's just creating baseless drama for no real reason whatsoever? cool, that's fun。 what fucking assholes his entire "family" is about it, like。。。。。。。 you can be shocked about that for a minute, you can even be like: you should have told us (though clearly from their knee-jerk shittiness: NO HE SHOULD NOT HAVE), but to immediately go: well, even though you've never given us any reason to doubt you, you've backed us up in every regard, participated in absolute suicide missions to keep us safe, sorry, you gots to go。 even if you wanted to be hORRIBLE PEOPLE ABOUT IT。。。。。 you're taking absolutely everything the dominion repository box gave you on faith and。。。。。。 they fucking saved his life and accounted for him in every aspect of the mission YOU DUMBFUCKS。 not only do i now think everyone who is not kal is the shittiest of shitty beings, i will also never ever believe their found family bullshit again - one of my absolute favorite aspects of this series and why i vibed with it so hard。 they all suck and for aurora to change her mind at the end and be like: no i DO love him; dick, you didn't even love him in the first place, you already showed your ass on that, remember? ugh。 uGH。 why was that so painfully stupid and manufactured??????tyler and saedii is also sooooo boring and awful i couldn't stand it。 i was racing through all their interactions because i was so turned off by it。 and to have the most boring heterosexual shit happening wHILE still having to see my least favorite character (WHO SHOULD BE GD DEAD) come back as well, like。。。。。。 fuck。 all i wanted out of this was for zila to get a girlfriend。 not for fin to be the pining guy who gets the girl who finally notices him because he's nice guy'd her for long enough (which probably isn't totally fair to him, he seems more decent than that, but it is still a VERY CLICHE romance pairing)。 not for tyler to find aNOTHER shitty love interest。 i am BORED of these tropes because they are BORING。 how do you have multiple lgbt+ characters and stack a book with so much of the friggin' same??man, at the last 100 pages my jaw just started dropping in disbelief over how horrible this was getting and i am so freaking bummed, i can't even tell you。 why。 WHY THIS, WHY??? it's worse because i trusted these authors so wholeheartedly based on the illuminae files and the first book of this series and this was beyond a letdown。 。。。more

The sequel gets deeper into some character backstory and at the same time furthers the plot along while revealing some key points about the world! I loved Zila's backstory。 Taking off one star for feeling annoyed a bit with the huge cliffhangers at the end and some character reactions that felt a little forced。 I love this crew and also normally love romance, but sometimes the suggestive comments seemed to come out of nowhere。 This book made me feel love and annoyance, like the way you feel abou The sequel gets deeper into some character backstory and at the same time furthers the plot along while revealing some key points about the world! It’s taken almost a year to read。 And I’m happy to say this is another case of it was me and not the book, darn pandemic。I’ve finally finished and I’m happy to say with that ending it was best I hadn’t finished。 My wait won’t be too long。Though I enjoyed this book, I was unhappy with the lot of them。 How easily they turned their back on one of their own。 Still I need to see this through。Narration was fantastic but I missed the full cast of the original series。

WHAT THE HECK!?HOW COULD YOU END IT LIKE THAT!? It’s going to suck to have to wait so long for the next bookI am too stunned by the ending that I don’t have many thoughts。 I love Tyler and Saedii。 I love all of Squad 312。 And I can’t wait to see what happens next。 I really really hope they all survive。 UghhhhhhI need book 3!! Now!!
